Any 'old people' & long time Jane's fans?

Tue, Sep 6, 2011 at 3:21 PM

Here to introduce myself: Andrea from Brooklyn and I've been a Jane's fan since middle school... now I'm somewhere in my 30's and don't you just love it when you've found one of those bands that still grows with you? I still have my well worn VCR tape of The Gift... which is that on DVD yet? I love their movies; they should have done more in my opinion, because (honestly) who doesn't want to see someone accidentally set a chicken on fire? Anyway, would love to share memories of JA with other fans. Oh, and obviously their music... what really needs to be said?

With love, Andrea

Since '87/'88. I can't quite remember. Memory fades with age, ya know. Seven shows dating back to 1990. Can't wait to see 'em again!

I have been a huge fan of Jane's since the first time I ever saw & heard them back in 1987 when I was 24 yrs. old at what was then, "Devonshire Downs" on the campus of Calif. State Univ., Northridge where I graduated from college. The building was like this huge barn/warehouse with standing room only & my friends & I were right up in front. Jane's was opening up for X & The Dickies. Needless to say, Jane's was unbelievable! Their music was like nothing I'd ever heard before & they became my favorite band. I remember every Jane's concert like it was yesterday because they are so awesome, & truly unforgettable.
When my son was 2 yrs. old, every time the song, "Stop" would start playing while we were in the car, he would instantly start shaking his head back & forth to the beat of the music in his car seat. "Here we go" is right!! And, that little guy is now 17 yrs. old, & like myself is still a huge fan!
The last time I saw Jane's was in 2009 at the Irvine Amphitheatre (where I also saw them at, I believe the very first Lalapalooza tour) with NIN and it was so great to see their show again. And, I can't wait until Jane's Addiction comes home again to play for their Los Angeles fans, hopefully adding concert dates SOON to their 2012 Tour. I can't wait!!

Been a fan since 1988 or 89, when I picked up Nothing's Shocking because I liked the bands name and thought the cover art was cool. Saw them at Visage (a shitty little warehouse/club outside of Orlando) in 1989 and although the sound was a mess - just this swirling, echoing cacophony - it was great to see Perry bouncing around the stage, wearing a red and white striped suit, wine bottle in hand. I picked up XXX after that and have followed them ever since.

Hey man right on... I'm old I guess in body. Woke up to nothing shocking in my youth and have followed ever since. Does dancing to Jane Says at my wedding count for anything. Love Perry and the boys, keep rocking and stay young!

I've been a fan since 1989 when my buddy at McGill gave me a homemade tape with the self titled Jane's Addiction (first album) on one side and Nothing's Shocking on the other. I am 40 and still listen to that tape. I remember being in Israel in 94 and hearing Jane's everywhere. Danced at an after hours party in Tel Aviv to 3 days. Epic. Some of my best memories are with Jane's. I've often said they have provided the soundtrack to my life.

I got into them during Nothing's Shocking... about 1988. Went to the very first Lollapalooza at Compton Terrace in Phoenix. Saw Porno for Pyros 3 weeks before the first album, at the KIKQ birthday bash in Phoenix. I have a bootleg video of the Relapse show in Mesa, AZ, and I can see myself on it. My wife and I had pictures with Perry at the Apple store, which he posted on his website. I have over 75 shows on mp3, and 4 DVDs

I first seen them on the Nothing's Shocking tour at First Ave. in MPLS. Not a whole lot of people at the show and in fact they came out and talked with people at the show. Not too people around here at that time knew who they were, including me. And off course the next time they were here they sold out First Ave in a heartbeat and then the rest is history. I'm going to multiple shows around the country and also just attended a show in Chicago in September at the club Metro which only holds 1150. Reminded me of the first time I saw them back in the late 80s. So, yeah I'm old.

Great quote Andrea. Besides seeing my grandparents and Uncle(Road Manager for The Band) on stage at Woodstock 94 while I was in the mud and then seeing Porno for Pyros set(AMAZING), I would say my fondest memory at a show was year 1 of Lollapalooza at Saratoga, NY. Growing up in Woodstock, NY under the shadow of the great art and music environment of the 60's and its feeling of togetherness/community I always wanted to feel it for myself. And that feeling was there at that first Lollapalooza tour with that eclectic mix of artists, musicians and performers. Now 40 I can not wait to see Jane's in Denver on May 29 and see what the The Theater of Escapists can conjour up.

First saw Janes Addiction in Edinburgh in 1990 and got totally hooked. Since then i've travelled to various festivals and venues to see them whenever they've been over here in the U.K. Cant wait til they get back over here, was gutted when they had to cancel Leeds Festival last summer! Ah well....maybe this year.........

Im 41. A long time ago, I joined one of those stupid music clubs, remember? 20 records for a penny or some dumb shit like that? I picked the ritual album because I knew "stop" from the radio. Little did I know. You know most albums you buy for one song, you listen to the rest of it, and sometimes it sucks. I put ritual on, and let it play right on through. I was floored, just hypnotized. Been a fan ever since. Going to see them in Baltimore on the 14th of August! Cant wait!

Yep, this includes me too. I am 43 now. I have been listening to JA since the mid-eighties. God, I guess looking back I was just 14-15 years old! LOL. Well, still here and still love 'em. I see a lot of people on this board from NY which is where I was born and raised. Tonight is my show out here in Portland, Oregon. I am so excited I feel like I am going to bounce all around today!
